A light drizzle and the rolling fog

I don't know why I love fog and mist so much. I'm now understanding why I photograph the landscape the way I do. Having grown up in a place where it rains so much, and cloudy days are the usual, I think I'm only trying to portray the beauty of our place even though people complain about our bad weather all the time. For many, shooting in conditions like these may seem a crazy idea, but there's something unique in shooting when it's drizzling and there is fog... I think it's the calmness I feel hearing the raindrops fall from the leaves of the trees to the grass and seeing the fog rolling in through the forest.

It was worth it

It took me a while to get out of bed but as soon as I saw that the mountains were covered in fog and it was drizzling, I made a coffee, grabbed my camera and got in the car. Two hours later, I got back home, soaking wet and with a few mosquito bites. It was worth it though. It always is.

New project with Jon Etxezarraga

I have recently started working with portrait photographer Jon Etxezarraga and I am very excited to announce that we are about to launch our own brand in the next few weeks. Even though our work is very different, we believe that it will be interesting to see how we combine our styles.

On our first project together, we have collaborated with Amane, a clothing store from Durango (Basque Country) where Amaia sells beautiful clothes like the ones you see in the following photos. We shot at three different locations here in the Basque Country, and we had a wonderful time working with models Elene Okamika , Aiora Ponce, María Basabe and Bihozne Artetxe. We also had the help of make up artist Alba Herrera who made an excellent job, too!

This is a small selection of photographs we shot for this project, but we will be showing a lot more of the stuff that we have been doing in these past few weeks, when we finally reveal everything in August. We are looking forward to working on sessions with individuals, couples, families and brands. So if you are interested, go ahead and send us an email to leireub@gmail.com. Keep checking our Instagrams for updates and news! Can't wait to see this project grow, we are beyond excited!

Barcelona

I recently spent a couple of days in Barcelona. This was my second time in the city, and I really had a wonderful time exploring all the sights. I decided to limit myself by bringing only the Fujifilm XT1 along with the 23mm f1.4. On this brief blog post I wanted to highlight the architecture of some of the most important buildings in the city. I specially loved waking up at 6am to catch the sunrise from Park Güell, the cathedral of BCN and obviously the interior of Sagrada Familia.

Hope you like them!

Intimate Wilderness

After several weeks of beautiful weather and high temperatures, we welcomed the rain and I couldn't be happier. The valley looks really green and the soil seems to be getting enough water. Hopefully it will stay like this for a few days and it will give me a chance to create some nice photographs as the fog keeps rolling down the mountains while creating a wonderful mood throughout the day.

This morning when I woke up, it was pouring. I hesitated about staying at home or driving up to the forest, but in the end, I took my camera and two lenses and went in search of some intimate detail shots. It was relaxing and very peaceful, as you'll see.

One of my goals for this year is to learn how to make videos. So I decided to give it a try and this is what I came up with. It's a short clip taken in the same location where I took the next set of photographs. Hope you enjoy it!
